Transportation

Free transportation sources may have needs based requirements. 

Bus Transportation
Price ranges from free to low cost. Some employers and schools have packages which permit their employees and students to ride for free. 
 

Johnston County
  • Coordinated Transportation System Inc. - Provides subscription and Dial-A-Ride service for qualified residents.
  • Triangle Transit Authority - Park-and-Ride, vanpools and buspools. Planned transportation to RTP.

Smithfield
  • Partnership for Children of Johnston County, 1200 S Pollock St., Selma, NC 27576; 919-202-0002, Diana Richards, Ext 126. Free - Child Passenger Safety Education and check current car seat for recall and proper installation. Occasionally, new car seats are available for a set fee depending on type of seat needed and family situation.  Fees range from $10 up to the amount PFCJC paid for the seat.

Wake County
  • Capital Area Transit - Click on Resident, then click on Transportation, Includes Accessible Raleigh Transportation for ages 13-senior citizen
  • Christian Community in Action, 1231 NE Maynard Rd., Cary, - transportation assistance.
  • Family Aid Council, 130 N. Judd Pky., Fuquay-Varina, 552-2501 - Transportation Assistance.
  • Garner Area Ministry, 885 Highway 70 W, Garner, 772-9100; Joyce Cooper; $40-50 for gas.
  • Triangle Transit Authority
  • Wake County Human Services, 212-7005 - Transportation assistance.
  • Wolfline

Low Cost Working Cars
  • Wheels4Hope, 27 Horne St., Raleigh, NC 27607; 919-255-1325. Provides safe, reliable cars; assist with license, title, and insurance issues; and offer on-going support for car-related needs. Limited to folks in transitional housing in Raleigh area.
